Adidas Unveils Hilarious “The Box Shoe” in Apparent April Fools’ Prank

Adidas has seemingly taken its chunky sneaker designs to a whole new level with the absurd “The Box Shoe,” revealed earlier this week on its Confirmed app.

This outrageous design perfectly replicates a classic blue and white Adidas Originals shoebox, complete with the iconic three stripes branding. But unlike your average packaging, this “shoebox” boasts a cutout for your foot, allowing you to wear it.

Thick laces are threaded through the “natural fiber” (otherwise known as paper) upper, which even features a flap acting as a tongue.

“Blurring the lines between product and packaging,” Adidas playfully describes the shoes in the app.

While these head-turning sneakers would undoubtedly generate a lot of buzz, it seems near impossible to actually acquire a pair. Adidas states the price will be shared “upon request,” hinting at their exclusivity.

The biggest clue that this might be a prank? The product code, “AF0104,” which conveniently lines up with April Fools’ Day. Don’t fret though, if you’re feeling inspired, you could always create your own DIY version with similar wearability.
