Typography Day 2023 is an annual event that will be held for the sixteenth time on October 26th to 28th, 2023. This year’s event will be hosted by the Department of Applied Arts, Faculty of Visual Arts Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (BHU Varanasi) in collaboration with the IDC School of Design (IDC), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) with support from India Design Association (InDeAs) and Aksharaya.
Typography Day 2023 Competition
Main theme
The theme for Typography Day 2023 is ‘The Sacred and Typography‘. The event will feature workshops on Typography and Calligraphy, followed by a conference dedicated to exploring the relationship between sacred design and typography. The international conference will address various issues faced by type designers, type users, and type educators. The conference will include presentations by invited keynote speakers, eminent academicians, industry professionals, research scholars, and students. Additionally, the event will also host an exhibition of selected posters from the Poster Design Competition.
Calendar of Competition
Typography Day 2023 will be a three-day event.
Day one will focus on Workshops on Typography, including a Typography Quiz.
Days two and three will center around the conference, which will include discussions and sessions on ‘The Sacred and Typography’ and ‘Research in Typography’, as well as a ‘Type Design Critique Session’. Days one and three will also feature exhibitions of the Poster Design Competition, Typographic works from Design Schools, and Typographic Installations.
