Submit your entries for the Kokuyo Design Competition 2025 by the final deadline of October 9, 2024. Organized by the Kokuyo Design Awards Office, this international competition invites talented designers to collaborate and support their creative endeavors.
Theme of the Competition: “Prototype“
In product design, “prototype” usually refers to an unfinished product or a pre-completion model. However, in this project, Kokuyo redefines “prototype” as “a core idea with the potential to lead to the next stage.” Therefore, the competition aims to inspire and create a starting point for the future.
Awards:
- Best Design Award: 2,000,000 Japanese yen (approximately $12,800)
- Three Merit Awards: 500,000 Japanese yen each
- New Generation Award: Up to 10 winners, 30,000 Japanese yen each
Eligibility Criteria for the Kokuyo Design Competition 2025:
Participants can submit any stationery, furniture, or tools used in work, learning, or living spaces. The judges will prioritize the clarity of the idea, the relevance of the design to social issues, and its potential to become a marketable product.
The New Generation Award is reserved for unique ideas and challenges that break away from existing concepts. Exclusively open to students with promising futures, this award encourages young designers to take on new and exciting challenges.
Submission Requirements:
Participants must submit original works that have not been publicly disclosed before this competition, either in Japan or abroad.
Entry Fee:
There is no fee to participate in this competition.
Announcement of Results:
Kokuyo will announce the results of the 2025 Design Competition on March 21, 2025.
